Un-Merry Christmas Holiday

For the past week and a bit I was off on vacation. Did I go anywhere spectacular? No, I went to the crummy place that is Atlantic City, NJ. I love Las Vegas, and this place is just a dump in comparison. Now I’m sure this place must be pretty ‘happening’ in the summer time, but not so much during Christmas time. The place almost looked like it was abandoned. Christmas 2006 was the first time we were in Atlantic City, so why go back if we knew it was this bad. Well, back then it wasn’t that terrible, except for the fact that it rained Christmas day and I had to walk along the boardwalk with no umbrella, in a down jacket to get to a restaurant for dinner. To be clear, I do not blame Atlantic City for that.

People then ask me, “then why did you choose to go there?” after I rant about how awful it was. Here’s the thing, when my dad books vacations 85% of the time we pick something that’s drivable, and to my dismay, not Orlando, Florida (I absolutely LOVE Disney World, though I really prefer to fly…) Anyways, so it limits the range of places we go to, plus when he does a search it’s what’s available at the time. So to the people who question me, we don’t pick it because we absolutely want to go there, no we chose it because it was what’s available and looked decent to stay in. For example, this trip we stayed in a Marriot. Vacations for my family are more about outlet mall shopping, relaxing and seeing things. Which any place you go pretty much accommodates all those things.

Day 1: Well it rained most of the day, we also parked at Caesar's Palace, so we stuck around that area because in Atlantic City you have to pay for parking in casinos! In Vegas, this is unheard of!

We first went to go hit up the Shops at Caesar’s, there was no good sales whatsoever, or sales.. :l. We then decided to go back into the casino, and since I am now legal in the States I was able to get a players card. In the past they use to give you free stuff, or coupons. Now they just entice you to gamble. Their offer was that if you played at least 30 mins on the slots you would be reimbursed up to $100 of your losses and you will get 2 buffet passes and a 2 nights stay at any of their Caesar’s locations. We’ll see if that ever comes in the mail… –.- Thankfully I only lost $5.00 out of the $20 my mom gave me =P Gambling is stupid, plain and simple. I’d rather have had some gelato with my $5.00 =P By the time we got out of the Casino it was close to dinner time. We decided to walk around “The Walk” outlet mall to scope out the deals, there weren’t many. We at at Ruby Tuesday’s which was pretty decent =]

Day 2: We decided to head out to May’s landing instead of going back into Atlantic City. We ended up at Hamilton Mall, there wasn’t too much there, each of us bought about 1 thing. I found my VS shirt that I really wanted, but it was $50 here at home. I got it for $13! We ended up eating at Golden Corral, this amazing buffet that’s only $10 a person. They just recently added a chocolate fountain! It was pretty amazingly yummy!

Day 3: We went to May’s Landing yet again, but this time we stopped by the Shore mall which had a Burlington Coat Factory. Which I’ve never been to till now, it’s sort of like Winner’s here at home. It was decent, my mom found a ton of Christmas things that were 75% off! We also picked up some clocks for our house and I found a decent hair straightener from Revlon, since my current one wasn’t heating properly. There was also this other department store which, saying it was huge is an understatement. It was endless! They had some decent sales, we mostly just picked up some things from my brother’s apartment. We then went to Chili’s for their 2 for $20 meals =P I had chicken fajitas!

Day 4: Outlet Mall Shopping Day! We parked at Applebee’s since we were planning to go to eat there later on, thus they provide free parking for customers. After hours of shopping and me finding nothing I was looking for, I finally found a purse from Nine West that would be work appropriate. I also got some pans and icing tools from corning ware for 75% off! It was a good day of shopping, finished off with a yummy Applebee’s six cheese pasta.

Day 5: We left Atlantic City and headed to Boston to drop my brother back off. On this journey was the closest I have ever been to New York City. I could see the Empire State building in the distance… =[ I have never been to New York City and I really want to go soon!

So that is what I did for my Christmas Vacation, at the end of the day it was a pretty meh trip. The resort wasn’t even that nice, the hotel we stayed at in Boston was better, they even had free breakfast!
