The Biggest National Park

We headed over to Yellowstone National Park today. It's about a 6 hour drive to get there so we also booked a night in Jackson, Wyoming.

A Brief History of Yellowstone National Park
It's wonderland. Old Faithful and the majority of the world's geysers are preserved here. They are the main reason the park was established in 1872 as America's first national park —an idea that spread worldwide. A mountain wild land, home to grizzly bears, wolves, and herds of bison and elk, the park is the core of one of the last, nearly intact, natural ecosystems in the Earth’s temperate zone.

We arrived around 12:30pm in Yellowstone, we've been here before back in 2009 and we know that it is a massively large park so we bypassed some sights that we've seen before. Our first stop was Old Faithful, which we luckily only had to wait about 5 mins until it went off; its predicted to go off every 1 hour and a half, give or take 10 minutes.

We then we headed towards the sights that we didn't get to see last time, due to the fact that the roads were closed.

We managed to get to the North side by about 3:30pm where we got to see Mammoth Falls. There wasn't too much water streaming down though, I guess its due to the lack of water in the area.

After taking a couple of pictures we had to start heading back towards Jackson, Wyoming which is on the South entrance of Grand Tetons National Park.

To paint a quick picture, we drove from Utah which is south of Wyoming. Thus we came from the South, Jackson is the town right before it becomes Grand Tetons National Park and then north of that is Roosevelt Highway which then goes into Yellowstone National Park. This whole area is bigger than some States, you can just image the enormity of it all.

We finally managed to get back into town at around 11 pm, sadly the only thing open to eat was Wendy's. We then had to find where our hotel was in the dark, when we finally got there it was quite nice.
We stayed at a Hampton Inn, they had just acquired this property and had just opened a couple months ago. The decor was based on the National parks and kind of an earth feel, it was really nice. =]

Tomorrow we are heading back to see the Tetons and then driving to Idaho to visit Craters of the Moon National Monument.
