Heat & Buffets

This morning we after breakfast we headed out to Death Valley National Park.

A Brief Overview of Death Valley
In this below-sea-level basin, steady drought and record summer heat make Death Valley a land of extremes. Yet, each extreme has a striking contrast. Towering peaks are frosted with winter snow. Rare rainstorms bring vast fields of wildflowers. Lush oases harbour tiny fish and refuge for wildlife and humans. Despite its morbid name, a great diversity of life survives in Death Valley.

Once we passed the Park sign it was actually a pretty long distance until we got to the entrance of the park, we first had to drive through another valley before we got to Death Valley. There was also a lack of signs, so we didn’t exactly know what was going on.
When we finally got there it was actually quite a view. There were a lot of places where we were at the same elevation as sea level.

When we stopped at the visitor centre to get my stamp and to watch the video about the park we noticed something weird. I guess it’s not weird considering it is hot there. When you used the bathroom you could see steam coming out from the toilet, and the toilet seats were heated ._.! it was just a weird feeling haha, plus all the water in the sinks were all hot because its too expensive to cool the water. The temperature in death valley was around 104 degrees Fahrenheit. (40 degrees Celsius)

Our next stop was Badwater Basin, where it was below sea level! 282 ft below sea level to be exact. You could also walk across the dried salt lake, but it was a tad bit hot for my liking so we just took some pictures and then headed out of the park.

We had one last stop before we started on our last stretch to Vegas. It was a small look out into the Valley and its surrounding area.
We arrived in Vegas where we found that it had been raining all day, it had just stopped when we were driving into Vegas. Normally it rains for 10 mins and then stops, so it was weird that they had a downpour all day.
So we checked into our resort, washed up and then headed to the strip to being our 24 hour Buffet. In Vegas they current have this deal for their buffets, you get 24 hours of buffet for $45 (or $50 if you don’t have your total rewards card)

This deal actually makes sense if you being by having a later dinner, we had ours at around 8 ish, plus the line for the Market Buffet in Paris was really long. So the next day you can fit it a dinner at around 7pm. Thus its $22.50 per dinner buffet (with crab legs!!) of if you do all 4 meals it would work out to $11.25 a meal. Very worth it.
