The Heather Boot

I finally decided to invest on a nice pair of leather long boots.

I've been searching in a lot of places such as Aldo, Nine West, small boutiques around Toronto, Shoedazzle, etc.. But they were all around $140 and up and weren't even leather. Well, there were a couple of leather ones but they worked out to be around $200!

So one miraculous day, Shoemint came out with their first tall boot: The Heather and I immediately fell in love with them. They were a tad bit over my price point though, working out to around $140 (this is including shipping) I know it says that they have free shipping but that's for people who live in the States, and unfortunately for Canadians it's $20 extra to ship. So at first I didn't get them, and continued on my search. But I could not find a boot that I liked, plus the Heather was leather! So finally one day I gave in and purchased them, but I managed to reduce the price to $124.00 which made me feel slightly better.

The other point that swayed me into purchasing form shoemint again is that their quality is really good. The shoes are made in the same factory as Steve Madden (or at least they have the same quality standards)

I got them in the mail about a week after I ordered them, which is really quick considering I live in Canada! So I was very happy and excited. and I just love them! They are so comfy and amazingly cute!

My only issue with these boots are that the inside doesn't look too well crafted, it just looks unfinished. It's a bit strange, but other than that everything else seems to be good =]

I decided today that I needed to start looking for a new agenda since school will be starting soon and I need to be organized!!!
In the past I have normally bought a Moleskine and loved it. I decided to go for the same, though I remembered seeing a Peanuts version. I wanted it! So I searched for it where I normally buy my agendas… Indigo. Unfortunately they didn’t have it so I had to Google it, I finally found it on Amazon.ca and since my brother gives it good rating. He practically lives off of it in the States, I decided to give it a chance too. Plus it had a free shipping option and it was the cheapest place I could find it. To get the free shipping however, you have to spend $25, I searched some more and decided to finally get a book I had been eying for the past little while…

My shipment was fairly quick, I ordered it Wednesday night and by Thursday they had already processed it. Friday afternoon I received it! =D

Overall I was so pleased with Amazon, will definitely use it again if I ever need anything.

A Touch of Floral

So lately I’ve been noticing that the whole online shopping phenomena  is growing. (Or maybe I was just never aware of it in the first place…)
Previously I have tried out one of the companies called Shoedazzle. I talked about it a bit in one of my previous posts. They have improved their polices since then though, the biggest change that I love is that you no longer need to “skip the month” any more. I just think it’s stupid that they charge you every month for a pair of shoes.
However, this new online shoe shop that I have stumbled upon has yet to change their policies about that…  I’m not sure how I first heard about Shoemint, but their first collection really caught my attention. I really adored their “Edith” shoe but at the time was eyeing another pair (don’t remember what they were called) But they were a wedge bootie, very cute. That was until I did a little research and stumbled upon a photo of how they looked in real life. They were kind of like elf shoes :l But by that time the Edith shoes had already sold out =[

The problem with buying shoes online is that you never know what they really look like until you get them. I know how they offer free returns, but let’s face it that’s a big hassle in itself. (I even get lazy to return things at regular stores)

For new sign ups you receive a 20% discount on your first pair. (10% less than Shoedazzle) The prices for the shoes start at $79.98, now if you compare it to Shoedazzle’s price of $39.99 it’s quite a difference. From what I have read and experienced (from my own pair of Shoedazzle shoes) they quality of the Shoemint shoes is supposed to be that of Steve Maddens.
At first I was hesitant with Shoemint because of the price, and the fact that shipping to Canada was $20. I finally caved when they had a sale, so I used that and my 20% off and got a pretty decent price. So I bought the “Leslie” shoe:



For 5 inch heels they are surprisingly comfortable, and the quality is really nice as well. You get what you pay for. The colour isn’t exactly what I expected, but they are very cute.
Overall, I’m definitely going to keep my eye on Shoemint because they are coming out with more designs and I am excited to see them =]

Shoedazzle

I finally decided on a pair of shoes to get from Shoedazzle.com.

For those of you who have never heard of this website, apparently it’s been around for at least a year, but I only heard of it about 3 months ago. What caught my attention to this site was (and no Kim Kardashian is not it, she founded(?) the site) that the site offers good shoes that look designer and they are only $40 a pair, or for anything on their site, which sometimes does include designer brands under their weekly “dazzle deals”. Their shoe collection is quite good, they have things from running shoes, flats and knee high boots. All for $40, in my opinion I’d go for the boots and such since I know for a fact it’s very difficult to find boots for $40 and under. Flats I find for cheaper so it’s not worth it, and don’t even get me started on my running shoes.

To be clear I am a bargain hunter, not a cheap-ass, I’m fickle when it comes to fashion so I tend to look for the best deal I can get, but hey what fashionista isn’t? (not that I am one, some days I look like a hobo =P)

Anyways, so my package arrived on my doorstep this afternoon and I was quite excited because I have never ordered anything online that I’d hadn't seen in real life. Especially shoes, I was a bit sceptical, when I buy shoes I look for 3 things:

1. comfort

2. style

3. brand

now 2 out of the 3 things were unknown to me, I have no idea if the shoe is going to be comfortable, nor do I know the quality that the brand produces. So why did I take this chance? Because I fell in love with the style, lately I had been eyeing these booties by Christian Louboutin, but of course I can’t afford to spend that much on shoes, it’s like 2 months rent, which I don’t rent but still, its the principles of it all!

The style that I choose was similar in the sense that it had the marine style to it as well. The plus to the shoes I choose were that they were purple and closed toe, I absolutely love purple and I find peep toe booties aren't the best for fall.

So here they are, they aren’t quite what I expected, I hoped that the buttons would be more gold like on their website http://www.shoedazzle.com/products/junie#177, other than that the quality seems decent so far. I have yet to wear them out and about. I have some concern that the bottom of the shoe has no grip whatsoever, so I might be slipping and sliding all over the place :l Also, just from picking up the shoe the heel feels a bit wobbly. (I said the quality was decent, not superb)  

I find they are quite comfortable for 4 inch heels from just walking around the house. Unfortunately they ran out of my size when I ordered them so I had to go for the 1/2 size up, which I must say was probably a blessing in disguise because even though they are a bit big, with socks on its perfect.

For signing up you get 30% off your first pair and free shipping! For those of you who don’t live in the United States, like myself, unfortunately you have to pay for shipping. To Canada it was about $9 for shipping, but I have to say it was shipped within 5 days all the way from Cali, pretty good considering they say 10-12 days. I’m a very impatient person =P

My only complaint against this site is that they charge your credit card every month unless you say to skip it, no wonder why people are going into debt! You only have 5 days at the beginning of each month to skip it. Now every month I have to remember to skip it! They WANT you to buy a pair of shoes or accessory every month. It’s a bit much :l

My last comment is to check their reviews site before purchasing anything http://reviews.shoedazzle.com/0036/allreviews.htm I found it after I got mines :l I was torn between two choices but after reading the reviews I think I made the right choice =]

skin iD

For a while now I have been seeing ads on tv for Neutrogena's Skin, and it looked promising but I was unable to order it because it was only available in the United States. Recently they launched it here in Canada so I can finally try it. 

It came in the mail pretty quickly, within the next day pretty much. Probably because the distributor is located in Mississauga.

I have been using it for about a month and my skin has cleared up dramatically. In the past I have tried Proactive, Murad, some Asian voodoo magic (not really, but my grandma bought me this product that felt like I was putting oil on my face :l)  and even prescription medications to help with my acne, but none of them seemed to work. For me I think this product worked so well because of the fact that they do take in account the type of skin you have and where you live. Acne stems not only from hormonal imbalances but also environmental factors. So I think Neutrogeana did an amazing job this this product. I thank them, and will continue to order this product even though it is $40. But it works! Right now they also have an added bonus of a travel bag and their spot treatment formula, which literally works like magic! I wish they sold it separately.
